• "Polovtsian Dances", a choreographic excerpt from A. Borodin's opera "Prince Igor", edited by M. Fokin acquired the status of an independent stage ballet work. The premiere took place in May 1909 as part of the Russian Season, Paris. "Polovtsian Dances" made a splash, leaving the impression of authentic dances of the Scythian descendants. The second act of the opera, as you know, takes place in the Polovtsian camp. Here Prince Igor, his son Vladimir and other Russian soldiers languish in captivity.
