METELITSA ORCHESTRA IS GOING TO UZBEKISTAN

The Metelitsa Orchestra is one of the brightest and most virtuoso national ensembles in Russia, it is rightfully considered the musical "calling card" of the Leningrad Region. In 2023 the orchestra will celebrate its 35th anniversary. The team has collected the best traditions and advanced professional achievements in the field of performance on national instruments. The founder, artistic director and conductor of the orchestra is the Honored Artist of Russia Igor Tonin, a prominent representative of the artistic intelligentsia, who is also a professional instrumentalist and conductor.

From October 6 to October 12, 2022, the State Orchestra of Russian Folk Instruments "Metelitsa" will make a concert tour of the cities of Uzbekistan. The trip is timed to coincide with the Year of Folk Art and Intangible Cultural Heritage in Russia and the end of the International Decade for the Rapprochement of Peoples under the auspices of the UN and will be supported by the Government of the Leningrad Region and the Regional Committee for Culture and Tourism.

The musicians will give concerts in the cities of Tashkent, Samarkand, Karshi and Shakhrisabz. Accompanied by the group, the Austrian opera singer of Uzbek origin Asya Davydova (soprano) will perform romances and songs by Uzbek and Russian authors.

During the trip to Uzbekistan, the musicians will visit the main sights of the country and meet with Uzbek colleagues in order to establish professional ties and prospects for cooperation.

On October 07, 2022 at 19:00, the concert of the Metelitsa Orchestra will take place in the Great Hall of the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan.
