Flóra Kiss initially trained herself in a self-taught manner, then continued her studies at the Kőbánya Music Studio in Budapest. Her talent and high level of acheivement at the school was noticed by Kornél Fekete-Kovács, a teacher at the school. The young vocalist performed several times with the teacher at the Modern Art Orchestra Session and, notably, at the closing concert of the Bigband and with a sextet of Kornél and MAO members. She was a member of the electronic chill out band Voler Mouche, later, she enriched the choir formation of Budapest Voices and then the Balázs Elemér Group. She toured all over Europe in 2018 as a member of the Balázs Elemér Group: in Paris, Brussels, Helsinki, Ulm.
Flóra Kiss sings in various musical formations. On 12th of March 2022, as a part of Hungary’s latest jazz-pop, jazz-funk super group “Subtones”, she won 2. place in the Hungarian song contest „A Dal 2022”. In the song contest program the jury and the audience selected the winner for the title „Song of the Year 2022” out of 40 productions, in the series of 7 shows, the songs were performed live on Hungarian National TV.
Mátyás Tóth, the duo’s guitarist, graduated from the Liszt Ferenc University of Music in Budapest for an M.A. in 2014. He first debuted with Rozina Pátkai, a jazz singer, with whom he started working in 2011. Together they gave highly successful concerts across Europe and America. In 2013, the band won the American Independent Music Awards Audience Award. That same year, he traveled with Rozina to New York with the final bands of the Made in New York Jazz Competition, where he was able to perform on stage with Randy Brecker and Lenny White at the gala concert of the competition. In 2014 and 2015, he played and won awards several times in New York, during which, he participated as Rozina Pátkai’s guitarist, conductor and composer of the band. In 2014 their album, ’Você e Eu’ was nominated in the Independent Music Awards in 3 different categories, Best Latin Album, Best Jazz Vocalist Album and Best Jazz Song – ’El Hombre Que Yo Ame’. In the 2015 Independent Music Awards (USA), ’Ai, nao’, a song composed by Mátyás Tóth, was awarded the title ’Best Latin Song’.
The newly formed duo is currently working on their first joint album, which will feature jazz evergreens and modern hits in addition to their own tracks.
