"Polovtsian Dances", a choreographic excerpt from A. Borodin's opera "Prince Igor", edited by M. Fokin acquired the status of an independent stage ballet work. The premiere took place in May 1909 as part of the Russian Season, Paris. "Polovtsian Dances" made a splash, leaving the impression of authentic dances of the descendants of the Scythians. The second act of the opera, as you know, takes place in the Polovtsian camp. Here Prince Igor, his son Vladimir and other Russian soldiers languish in captivity. The scene of "Polovtsian Dances" begins with dances and songs of the girls (chorus "Fly away on the wings of the wind"). The choreographic action is staged on the amazing beauty and melodic arias of the Polovtsian girl and Konchakovna (daughter of Khan Konchak). Then the general dance of the Polovtsians begins. The action ends with a general climactic dance. The premiere of A. Borodin's opera "Prince Igor" took place in Tashkent in 1972, conductor A. Abdukayumov, author of the choreography of "Polovtsian Dances" G. Izmailov. In 1998, a new production of the 3rd act of the opera by A. Borodin "Prince Igor" and "Polovtsian Stan" took place after the choreographic composition of M. Berkut. The ballet Chopiniana (Sylphides) was staged by the outstanding Russian choreographer Mikhail Fokin in 1908 and is an elegant dance suite set to music from the piano works of the great Polish composer Frederic Chopin. (Instrumentation by A. Glazunov and M. Keller) The Chopiniana ballet is one of the most outstanding works of the choreographer. This is a dance poem, devoid of a plot, stylized in the spirit of lyric-romantic choreographic performances, called by the choreographer "romantic dream". A wonderful choreographic fantasy about beauty, harmony and happiness, a revived world of fleeting visions and enchanting dreams that are born in the dreams of the hero - a young poet who, in Fokine's words, “strives for something different, better, living in his imagination”, replaced a clear plot scheme and the usual sequence of the stage action of classical ballet. At the Navoi State Academic Bolshoi Theater, Chopiniana was first staged by choreographer V. Kaminskaya in the classical version of the Mariinsky (Kirov) Theater and became one of the most popular performances in the repertoire poster and on tour of the 60s-70s of the last century. The production troupe of the theater returned to this performance the refined style, sincerity and charm of the romantic ballet, which became the property of ballet art.
