About the Venue

The Amir Temur Mausoleum (Gur-e-Amir) is one of the most famous historical and architectural landmarks in Samarkand and an important part of Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage. Construction began in the early 15th century in connection with Amir Temur’s grandson, Muhammad Sultan. The complex later became the family mausoleum of the Timurid dynasty, serving as the final resting place of Amir Temur himself, his sons and grandsons, including Mirzo Ulugbek.

The mausoleum is renowned for its magnificent ribbed turquoise dome, monumental entrance portal and richly decorated interior featuring gilded details, marble and intricate ornamental patterns. One of its most remarkable features is the jade tombstone associated with Amir Temur, which is surrounded by historical stories and legends. Today, Gur-e-Amir is one of Samarkand’s most important attractions, welcoming visitors interested in history, architecture and the legacy of the Timurid era.
