About the Venue

The Samarkand Regional Museum of Local Lore is a historical and cultural museum located on Abdurahmon Jami Street in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Founded in 1981, the museum introduces visitors to the rich history, natural environment and cultural heritage of the Samarkand region. It is housed in a historic mansion built in the early 20th century, designed by architect E. O. Nelle and formerly owned by the wealthy merchant Abram Kalantarov.

The museum’s exhibitions are divided into history and natural history sections. Visitors can discover archaeological finds, historical documents, household objects, ethnographic materials, and exhibits showcasing the region’s flora and fauna. Some displays also explore the cultural heritage and history of local communities. A visit offers an opportunity to learn more about Samarkand’s past, traditions, natural environment and diverse cultural identity.
