Located on Chopon-Ota Street in the Chilanzar District of Tashkent, the State Musical Comedy (Operetta) Theatre of Uzbekistan is a cultural venue dedicated to musical theatre. Founded in 1972, the theatre opened its first season in August 1973 with Johann Strauss's operetta The Merry War. Since then, it has developed as a specialised institution for musical and theatrical performances.
