The name "Sublimation" symbolizes the transformation of emotions into creative energy and art, creating a unique space where music takes on new dimensions. The Sublimation Festival combines cutting-edge electronic music with the rich traditions of Uzbek music, creating a fusion that is as innovative as it is deeply rooted in heritage. The festival draws inspiration from the image of a young plant pushing through concrete—a symbol of freedom, creativity, and the unyielding power of cultural expression.

With each beat, Sublimation not only presents music but makes a statement about unity, inclusivity, and the transformative power of art. From hosting the first Boiler Room show in Uzbekistan to creating playlists that span decades and genres, Sublimation pushes boundaries and celebrates Uzbekistan's rich and diverse culture on the global stage.

The Sublimation Festival in Central Asia is a three-day celebration of culture, music, and transformation. It will be held at the Soviet modernist building, the Palace of Aviation Builders in Tashkent, with the goal of revitalizing this iconic structure.

The first day of the festival will start with a conference dedicated to the evolution of music in Central Asia and the preservation of modernist architecture, featuring prominent architects from the region. Samantha Togni and Bjarki will conduct exclusive masterclasses and workshops for young talents, providing unique learning and development opportunities. Refuge Worldwide will organize a contemporary workshop focused on global radio and broadcasting, where participants can learn about cutting-edge trends and technologies in the field. The evening will conclude with an experimental music show. The following two days will include a musical and theatrical program, as well as art installations curated by Aziza Kadiri.

The connections we build through art and culture can change lives and create positive impact. Supporting independent artists and creative entrepreneurs in Uzbekistan is an important part of the British Council’s work, which is why they are pleased to support the Sublimation Festival 2024 and the visit of representatives from the UK music industry to Uzbekistan for this event.

The festival will provide a unique platform for meeting young talents and established artists, opening up opportunities for collaboration and inspiring the creative industry. Festivals like this are becoming a new sector in Central Asia with enormous potential for the development of artistic expression, job creation, and expanding opportunities for inclusion. In the lead-up to the World Conference on Creative Economy in Tashkent, this festival is set to be the musical event of the year.

The festival will be broadcast globally through Refuge Worldwide. Key partners include the British Council, Boiler Room, Soundcloud, Resident Advisor, and Refuge Worldwide.
