As part of the International Ballet Festival, organised by the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, a new production of Swan Lake by Teatro Massimo will be presented on 18–19 April at The State Academic Bolshoi Theatre named after Alisher Navoi. The production is staged under the direction of Jean‑Sébastien Colau.

Classical style and academic technique are combined with contemporary choreography and dramaturgy. The action is relocated to 19th-century Palermo, with references to Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa. The set design by Francesco Zito and costumes by Cécile Flamand emphasise the atmosphere of the era.
