On April 9–10, the International Opera and Ballet Festival will feature a production by the legendary Caroline Carlson on the stage of the A. Navoi Bolshoi Theater in Tashkent.
For Carlson, dance is inextricably linked with philosophy and spirituality. When talking about her productions, she prefers the term “visual poetry” to “choreography.”
The choreographic performance “Tree,” which premiered in 2022, is subtitled “Fragments of Poetics in Fire.” In “Tree,” Carlson’s dreamy vision and the virtuosity of the dancers convey a powerful and dynamic declaration of love for nature, which is on the brink of collapse, in the hope that it will be reborn like a phoenix rising from the ashes.
