On November 19, 2024, Chinese virtuoso pianist Lang Lang will give a solo concert for the first time in Tashkent. The concert will take place at the Palace of International Forums “Uzbekistan”.

Lang Lang is a leading figure in contemporary classical music. He is invited to perform both at the opening ceremony of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and in the most prestigious concert halls. He collaborates with conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Gustavo Dudamel, Daniel Barenboim and Christoph Eschenbach, and performs with leading orchestras. Lang Lang is known for thinking outside the box and easily moving into different musical worlds. His performances at the GRAMMY Awards with Metallica, Pharell Williams or jazz legend Herbie Hancock have been seen by millions of viewers around the world.

Lang Lang's boundless passion for bringing classical music to new audiences has earned him enormous recognition: he received the Crystal Award at Davos in 2010 and was named one of the World Economic Forum's 250 Young Global Leaders. He also holds honorary doctorates from the Royal College of Music, the Manhattan School of Music, and New York University. In December 2011, he was awarded the highest honor by the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China and received the highest civilian honors from Germany ("For Services to the Federal Republic of Germany") and France ("Medal of the Order of Arts and Letters"). In 2016, Lang Lang was invited to the Vatican and spoke before Pope Francis.

In 2024, Lang Lang plans to perform in dozens of world capitals. Next up is his debut concert in Tashkent, where he will perform a program of works by Frederic Chopin, Robert Schumann, and Georges Fouret.

The concert is organized by the Foundation for the Development of Culture and Art of Uzbekistan and is part of a program aimed at introducing the country's residents to the world musical heritage, as well as supporting creative performers of Uzbekistan.

The Foundation for the Development of Culture and Art of Uzbekistan was founded in 2017 by a decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The mission of the Foundation is the integration of the culture of Uzbekistan into the world cultural space, the development of opportunities within the country through the creation of an inclusive and accessible environment in cultural institutions, the renovation of museums, the development of philanthropy and the formation of human resources in museums, theaters and other cultural institutions. The Foundation's projects cover several areas: art, literature, theater, music, architecture, choreography, cinema. Using an interdisciplinary approach and bringing together specialists from different countries, the Foundation promotes the development of cultural diplomacy between the countries of the CIS, Europe and Asia.
