Act 1 Guests gather at the Stahlbaums' house for the New Year's holiday. Among them is Drosselmeyer, the godfather of Masha and Franz, the children of the Stahlbaums. He prepared a wonderful gift for them - a funny Nutcracker. Children wait with delight when they are finally shown the Christmas tree and holiday gifts. The desired moment comes and a decorated Christmas tree appears in front of everyone. Suddenly, Drosselmeyer, unrecognized by the children, appears in a wizard's costume. The children are delighted - they recognize him as their beloved godfather. Masha wants to play with the wonderful animated dolls, but... they have already been taken away. As a consolation, Drosselmeyer gives Masha the Nutcracker, which she really likes. Masha's brother Franz, a naughty man and a mocker, accidentally breaks a toy. With tenderness, Masha consoles her crippled pet. Guests return from the next room. Soon everyone leaves. Night. The room where the Christmas tree is lit is illuminated by moonlight. She is mysterious and magical. Masha came here to visit the “sick” Nutcracker. She hugs and lulls him to sleep. At this time Drosselmeyer appears. This is no longer just a good godfather. This is a sorcerer. With a wave of his hand, everything around is transformed: the walls move apart, the tree begins to grow. Together with her, toys come to life and grow. Suddenly, mice appear from under the floor, led by their mouse king. The dolls are terrified and confused. The brave Nutcracker saves everyone. Having lined up the tin soldiers, he boldly leads them into battle with the mouse army. However, the forces are not equal; the advantage is on the side of the evil mice. Masha is in despair at the danger threatening her pet. She throws a burning candle at the mice and they scatter in fear. The battlefield is emptying. Only one Nutcracker lies motionless on the floor. Masha and her dolls rush to the rescue. And suddenly a miracle happens... In front of Masha is a beautiful young man, the Nutcracker Prince. He goes to meet her. In a magical round dance of snowflakes, Masha and the prince rush to the Christmas tree kingdom. The dolls follow them. Act 2 The shining star is getting closer and closer, now they have almost reached the top of the fairy-tale tree... But the mice, led by the mouse king, sneaking behind them suddenly attack the Nutcracker Prince. But he boldly takes up the fight again. Masha and the dolls watch the fight with fear. The Nutcracker Prince defeats his enemy. The victory is joyfully celebrated. The dolls dance, the candles light up brighter, the Christmas tree comes to life. Masha and the Nutcracker Prince are happy - they have reached the kingdom of dreams! But all this is just a dream. New Year's Eve is over, and with it the wonderful dreams. Masha, who has lived through a fairytale dream, sits near her Christmas tree, with a Nutcracker doll on her lap.
