As part of the International Ballet Festival, organised by the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, the ballet Red Giselle by Boris Eifman will be presented on 14, 15 and 16 April at The State Academic Bolshoi Theatre named after Alisher Navoi. The production is set to music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Alfred Schnittke and Georges Bizet.
The performance tells the story of the ballerina Olga Spessivtseva and the trials she endured during the revolution and in exile. The expressive plasticity of Eifman’s psychological ballet conveys drama and emotional depth, while the updated choreography and scenography enhance the overall impact.
